So, for those of you in Toronto this weekend. I recommend checking out the Switch at Supermarket tonight. The night is Foxhole and it's going to be fun!!!!
Also, tomorrow night DJ's Tuff Luv, Kevin Ritchie and myself are taking over the Beaver for Executive Realness! Throw on some glitter and come to the ball!
We should have some fierce projections and hip hop, house and dance music all night. In loving memory of the tremendous Miss Octavia St. Laurent of Paris is Burning fame. Check her below:
And, on a heavier note, when I read about the new Dolce and Gabanna line being produced by Proctor and Gamble, I knew I didn't like it. And here's why:
And for a list of the products that are designed on the torture of defenseless animals, check Proctor and Gamble's website, so you know what to avoid purchasing.
And what a perfect start to this pretty entry, with a photo by Guy Bourdin. Actually, that's just me and girlfriend, chillin' at home. We're low key, no fuss and we are listening to Paris by Friendly Fires. I put up the mp3 here:
This is the original Friendly Fires video and song...I like the version I have way better!
In beauty news, celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath is the creative force behind the new makeup line by D&G, which is manufactured by Proctor and Gamble. For more info, check the NY Times article (Thanks Pratha!) here: www.nytimes.com/2009/05/21/fashion/21skin.html
I like Pat's makeup designs, but as a makeup artist I have to say I am sick of these makeup lines sprouting up here and there with limited colour selections, high prices and low quality ingredients. Stella McCartney had the right idea, but of course, she only offered skin care in her line, Care. Why can't we pair style and natural, high quality ingredients? The closest thing to the that I've found is a certified organic makeup line called Zuii Cosmetics. Have a look
And, if you can't get enough of all things Margot, check some of these links to Andrew Harwood's most recent show at Paul Petro's gallery, a short film by Oliver Husain that I provided makeup for and some other oddities below:
So, today, and almost everyday, I think about Morrissey. I love the Smiths and much of Morrissey's solo career up to about Vauxhall and I, and there's been a few good odds and ends from there. I have seen Morrissey three times, once at Massey Hall for the Maladjusted tour, once at the Royal Albert Hall, which was a dream come true - I met Russel Brand at the show and Channel 4 was filming for the Morrissey documentary. I have had trouble finding the full documentary online, but you can watch some of it on youtube.
It was amazing. Morrissey's mom was in the crowd too! The last time, was in Toronto for the You Are the Quarry tour and it was very enjoyable.
So, here's my question, I know he's older and there is nearly 25 years difference from photo 1 and photo 2 that are below, but what happened? Even a couple of years ago he looked very good and now his lines are very deep and his face seems to be trying to burst out of the skin. Is it from the deep feelings? Deep remorse? I will always love Morrissey, and by no means encourage surgery, but just a little diet and excercise would do him good.
Today I will be doing makeup for a fashion show at the Bata Shoe Museum. www.batashoemuseum.ca/
Should be good! Details/pics to follow!
I am also doing makeup for my peeps Kids on TV tonight. They are playing with Gentleman Reg at Buddies in Badtimes Theater, so check it if you're in Toronto. Tickets are only $5!
I did a photo shoot with Jeremy Laing, Kevin Ritchie and Graydon Sheppard today and it was absolutely amazing! I can give no further details, but look forward to the Big Primpin' Pride Flyer!!! Coming soon!
I will however, give you some beautiful video's made by my favorite artists Pierre et Gilles. The music is.....how do you say????......irritating? The images are great though.
And my old favorite, Marc Almond - A Lover Spurned. This won MuchMusic's old annual 'contest' Fromage, that I loved. There should totally be a new Fromage show. I've got to work on that.
More to come this week. I'm working with Kids on TV for a few upcoming shows and a photo shoot with the talented Mr. David Hawe.
Enjoy the video's!
